Bank Manager in Iseyin Commits Suicide Over Unpaid Loans

A branch manager of a microfinance bank in Oyo state, Sola Ogungbe, has reportedly taken his own life over unpaid loans. The 41-year-old was said to have been absent from work for some time, prompting a call to his wife. Upon arriving at their home, she discovered her husband’s lifeless body on the floor of their bedroom.

According to an anonymous official of the bank, some customers at Ogungbe’s branch had defaulted on loan payments, which may have contributed to his decision to end his life. A close friend of the deceased expressed regret that Ogungbe did not share his troubles with others, saying that communal living and friendship can often lead to solutions.

As of press time, the state Police Public Relations Officer could not be reached for comment. The body of the deceased has been taken to his hometown in Kwara state.
