I’m Still A PDP Member, Olopoeyan Reacts To Viral Photo

Popular Party leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Alhaji AbdulRasheed Adebisi Olopoeyan has revealed that his meeting with the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was to maintain intimacy with all reliable political leaders with a view of strengthening inter-party relationship rather than cross-carpeting to the opposition party as rumoured.

He made it known that his love for the former Lagos state governor coupled with his (Bola Tinubu) emotional generosity of keeping a healthy relationship with political leaders across different political parties made him accepted the offer for the meeting.

Olopoeyan, a staunch PDP member, whose efforts many believed to have worked for the emergence of the present PDP led government in Oyo state is not having it good with the governor on the ground that he felt neglected immediately governor Makinde got into office. He had alleged on a viral video that his efforts in bringing in Seyi Makinde was neglected and not fully compensated.

He disclosed that It was Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who invited him to come and see him. He said that the Lagos former governor had heard a lot about him and would love for them to work together.
Olopoeyan said, “he would like me to join Oyo APC, but I respectfully declined and told him that I am in PDP and that I cannot join the APC. I, however, told him that I love him. He said he loves people like me too.”

”I remember that late former governor Abiola Ajimobi extended similar gesture to me in 2012. Thank God Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, who was late Ajimobi’s political adviser as at that time is still alive. He was at the meeting.

“Former governor Abiola Ajimobi asked me to come over to the APC and that he would give me more than what his predecessor, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala was doing for me. I rejected it respectfully. And we related till he died last year. That is me.”

Olopoeyan stated that he is still a devote and card-carrying member of the People’s Democratic Party in Oyo state and that reports about him leaving the party should be treated as rumour and fake news.
