As parts of the activities lined up by the Oyo State Government to commemorate the 60th independence celebration of Nigeria, the Executive Governor of the State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, this Thursday, 1st October 2020 led Oyo State Government Functionaries in a special National 60th Anniversary Road Walk.
The independence walk which kick-started at the Government Arcade, Agodi Ibadan ended at the Total Garden Roundabout.
While addressing the citizens of the state shortly after the diamond jubilee walk, governor Makinde appealed to Nigerians to be proud of their country and do the best of their abilities at ensuring that the labor of the heroes past does not be in vain.
To mark the 60th Independence anniversary, The governor hinted that the Akobo-Ojurin Road will be re-awarded to a new contractor within 6 weeks while the Olodo-Olohunda road will be reconstructed soonest and the Fifth Palliative distribution of the state government will commence this month with private school teachers considered.
Governor Makinde, however, called on other governors in the Southwest region to sustain the cooperation already established among them to contribute more meaningfully to the lives of the citizens.
