The executive governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde has lent his voice to the recent calls for the electronic transmission of election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He added that the advent of the electronic transmission of results is long overdue in the state and the nation as a whole, particularly, because violence experienced during election periods especially at collation centres have claimed many innocent lives and the advent of this electronic style can be a “game-changer ” to reduce bloodshed during elections.

The governor who said that the technology to aid this new election results transmission is available already Also had this to say; The people of Oyo State will like to put it on record that we are not afraid of the choice of the people, so, having the results transmitted from the polling unit, for us, is a minimum standard we require.

Earlier, while receiving the delegation of INEC at the executive council chamber, Governor Seyi Makinde heaped praises on the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Oyo State, Mutiu Agboke for his ability to keep the commission independent of external influence in the state and the governor promised to give an enabling environment for the continued independence of INEC in the state.
