The Oyo State Paralympic team on Friday emerged second in the maiden edition of the National Paralympic Games tagged ‘Abuja 2022’.
Team Oyo under the leadership of Hon. Gbenga Adewusi fondly called ‘Arole’ alongside the General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, Mr Gboyega Makinde ‘Mankind’ amassed 60 medals; 24 gold, 15 silver and 21 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, team Bayelsa emerged the winner of the tournament with 31 gold medals; 30 silver and 32 bronze medals, a total of 93.
Kano came third with 21 gold, 13 silver, and 8 bronze; Edo fourth with 17 gold, 5 silver, 1 bronze, Ondo fifth – 15 gold, 11 silver, 3 bronze.
With 14 gold, 21 silver, and 8 bronze, Imo came sixth; FCT had 11 gold, 4 silver, 10 bronze to emerge seventh; Abia emerged eighth with 9 gold, 13 silver, 21 bronze while Akwa Ibom took the ninth spot with 8 gold, 5 silver and 11 bronze medals.
