Oyo 2023: Oke-Ogun Elders Break Ranks, Declare Support for Adeolu Akande

The Elders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 10 local government councils in Oke-Ogun, Oyo State have proclaimed their support for Professor Adeolu Akande as their favoured candidate ahead of the 2023 Oyo state gubernatorial election after a stakeholders’ meeting presided over by Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi at Ilero, Kajola LGA.

They also resolved not to run for the APC chairmanship at the party’s upcoming conference. The gathering contended that Chief Akin Oke, the party’s Chairman for the past ten years, was born in the Oyo North Senatorial zone and it was now the turn of other senatorial zones to produce the party’s chairman.

The elders praised members of the party for turning out in droves to register in the party’s most recent membership drive. The zone was also praised for having the highest number of registered members in the party.

They also told members of the party to prepare for the upcoming party congress, which would be held at a date to be announced by the party’s national headquarters and instructed party members in the zone to welcome gubernatorial aspirants from other zones and politely notify them of the zone’s resolution to produce Oyo State’s next governor.

The Elders resolved to reach out to other Oyo state zones to solicit their support for their candidate.” We cannot do it alone and we need the support of all parts of the state to actualize the project”, the Elders noted.
