Oyo State Fire Service has confirmed the recovery of the body of a 65-year-old man who fell into a deep well at Oke-Oga Atipe, Idi-Aga, Ibadan.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Reform and Chairman of the agency, Moroof Akinwande.
According to Akinwande, the agency received a distress call at exactly 9:42 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from one Mr Damola, reporting that a man had fallen into a well at the location.
He said, “Our officers, led by Assistant Chief Fire Superintendent Bamidele Samsudeen, were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered that a man, approximately 65 years old, had fallen into the well. His body was later recovered and handed over to a team of policemen led by SP Idowu from the Agugu Police Division.”
The chairman described the incident as unfortunate and advised residents to remain vigilant and adhere to safety precautions at all times.
He also urged members of the public to prioritise mental health and seek help when in distress, while reiterating the importance of fire safety measures, including the installation of fire extinguishers in homes and public buildings, especially during the dry season.
It will be recalled that a similar incident occurred in November when the body of a 45-year-old man was retrieved from a well at Odo-Ogbo, Oja-Agbe area of Iseyin.
