The Honourable Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Professor Dahud Sangodoyin, today, has announced that the Oyo State Executive Council has approved the reconstruction of some of the deplorable roads within Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Oyo State Executive Council, which met on December 5, 2023, after an extensive 6-hour meeting, agreed to reconstruct selected roads within Ibadan, Oyo State, with plans to extend the fixing of more bad roads within Ibadan and to other zones in Oyo State.
The asphaltic and rehabilitation of some selected and deplorable state roads in Ibadan will be carried out by the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA). The approved roads for reconstruction under OYSROMA include UI junction – Agbowo linking Ojoo Expressway Spur to Preboyes, Eleyele-Sango Road, Zion Plaza Olusoji Avenue linking Alao Akala Road Expressway, and Eleyele – Ologuneru road junction(culvert), Eleyele Roundabout -water Corporation-Eruwa Garage Road.
The total cost for the reconstruction is N553,604,734.3kobo with a duration of 3 months.
Additionally, the Asphaltic improvement/rehabilitation of other selected roads in Ibadan is in two parts. Lot 1 and lot 2 include a total of 12 roads. Lot 1, with a total of 70.45km, consists of 10 roads to be constructed by Messr Kopek Construction limited at a contract sum of N224.8 billion for a duration of 12 months, while Lot 2, awarded to Radcom Construction company, consists of 14.30km with a contract sum of N1.88 billion for a duration of 6 months.
Furthermore, the Oyo State Executive Council approved the implementation of road infrastructure component of the 32.2km Section 1 of the East Wing of Senator Rasheed Ladoja Circular Road lot 1 and lot 2. Lot 1 is from Lagos – Ibadan Expressway end to Jagun village which has 15.5KM and was awarded to Messr Craneburg Construction Company linked N42.34 B for a duration of 18 months. Lot 2 is from Jagun village to Ibadan-Ife expressway interchange awarded to Kopek Construction Company limited at a contract sum of N44.17 billion for a duration of 18 months.
The approval of these road reconstruction projects is a significant step towards improving the infrastructure in Ibadan and will provide better road connectivity for residents and businesses in the area.

– Zion Plaza Olusoji Avenue linking Alao Akala Road Expressway

Lot 1 Roads to be reconstructed by Messr Kopek Construction limited for a duration of 12 months include;

AARE JUNCTION – ASHI ALONG BODIJA ROAD 3.48km
BODIJA OJUIRIN – ASHI BASHORUN WITH SPUR TO OJOO 3.45 km
DUALIZATION OF U.I (PREBOYE JUNCTION) – BODIJA MARKET – SECRETARIAT – TOTAL GARDEN – BEERE ROUND ABOUT, IBADAN 15.53km
GOVERNMENT HOUSE – NTA JUNCTION – IKOLABA JAMB OFFICE – OFFICER’S MESS – FEDERAL SECRETARIAT-CUSTOM OFFICE, IBADAN 6.131km
DUALIZATION OF QUEEN CINEMA DUGBE – MOKOLA – SANGO – TRANS AMUSEMENT PARK JUNCTION 11.74km

Lot 2 Roads awarded to Radcom Construction company, for a duration of 6 months include;
DUALIZATION OF BUS STOP GATE – OJE – BEERE – OJA OBA – MOLETE UNDER BRIDGE 10.8km
OKE ADU – ODE AJE – AREMO – ORITA APERIN 3.5KM

What about neglected Odogbo Ojoo - Arulogun area? Is the place not part of Ibadan?

Seyi Makinde kindly set up a committee for road management. We have uncountable potholes at Challenge road linking Ringroad and other places. Most of the roads are having different types of triber marks. The Road linking to challenge roundabout from Methodist was done some months ago. The triber marks on that road now can not be describe. Setting up a group to be in charge of all these would help. Thanks

This is unfortunate. What about olodo bank to orita odan to olorunda. What about Oki , jenriyin, orita odan to olorunda.
These roads is a big business development area for the state
So the neglected Odogbo Ojoo – Aroromakinde, Arulogun road Is not part of Ibadan?

It sad that Oyo state government generate a lot of revenue from bodija Isopako road and still neglect the bad state of road. Anyway as long as Mr governor pays salaries we are good.

Well the road mentainance problem is made serious by the absence of functional local government administration which should have been responsible for mentainance of local government roads.
You are correct. After spending billions on the road repair, lack of adequate maintenance will get it spoilt in no time and will be waiting to be repaired with the money that can be used to fix some other roads.
Thank you his Excellence Governor Seyi Makinde for the approved roads to be repair but please kindly add Apete-Ariyibi arola to the above list, Ariyibi-Arola is one of the most terrible roads in ibadan even taxi are now avoiding to ply this road, pleas help us do something about it.
