….and ordered state EXCO of the party to refund the money collected from the local government aspirants during local government election in 2018.
Fresh crisis is now brewing in the Oyo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s Deputy National Chairman, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, ordered the state EXCO of the party to refund the money collected from the local government aspirants during the local government election in 2018.
Ajimobi, Daily Independent reliably gathered, handed down the order on Saturday while holding meeting with APC on the ongoing reconciliation of aggrieved APC members in Oyo state.
Sources at the meeting said the order by Ajimobi is already creating fears for the party’s EXCO as to where to now raise the money for its refund.
He was said to have, at the meeting, emphasized that for the party to move forward and the reconciliation to be a reality, there is the need to appease the aggrieved members by refunding the money collected for nomination forms for the 2018 aspirants.
Ajimobi was said to have told the meeting that there is the urgent need to rebuild the party in the state and that the best way to do this, “is to pacify those that are aggrieved on what happened in the past.”
The former governor of Oyo state at this juncture frankly directed the EXCO to right the wrongs and appease the chairmanship and councillorship aspirants the EXCO collected money from, saying, “the only way to start with, is to refund their money. Chairmanship aspirants paid a minimum of N300, 000 each while councillors paid N90, 000 each. But at the end of it all, there was no primaries”.
Ajimobi, according to the source at the meeting, declared point blank that the state EXCO should go and look for the money by all means and refund the money to the aspirants because the party cannot pinpoint what the money was used for, adding, the only way to redress all the issues within the party is to first return all what is due to everyone back to them
On further ways of resolving the crisis ricking Oyo state APC, Ajimobi said “plans are afoot for all the factions to come together. The state, local government ward EXCOs would be tinkered with to accommodate all”.
