Tinubu Appoints Awe-born as Civil Service Commission Chairman

Professor Tunji Olaopa, a retired federal permanent secretary and political scientist from Awe, has been chosen as the chairman of the federal civil service commission. Olaopa is well-known for his role in establishing the Ibadan School of Governance and Public Policy (ISGPP).

President Bola Tinubu has exercised his power under Section 154 of the Nigerian Constitution (1999, Amended) to appoint members to the Federal Executive Bodies. The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate. The following individuals have been selected to serve in the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC):

5. Mr. Rufus N. Godwins – Member (Representing Rivers | Delta | Bayelsa)

6. Dr. Adamu Hussein – Member (Representing Niger | FCT)

The new FCSC leadership is expected to assume their roles on November 30, 2023, following the expiration of the current chairman’s tenure on November 29, 2023.

President Tinubu has high hopes for the new FCSC leadership, expecting them to effectively facilitate the transformation, reorientation, and digitization of the Federal Bureaucracy. The aim is to promote growth and encourage increased private sector participation in the development of the Nigerian economy, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration.
