Two Elderly Men Rescued Alive from Gas-Filled Well in Ibadan



‎The Oyo State Fire Services Agency has rescued two elderly men who were trapped inside a gas-filled well at No. 50 Asigi, Elebolo Zone 1, Jegede area of Ibadan.

‎According to officials, the agency received the report through a telephone call indicating that individuals had fallen into a well at the location.

‎On arrival to the scene, responders discovered two male victims, aged 62 and 76, were trapped inside the well, which was reportedly filled with ammonia gas.

‎The men were said to have been digging the well when they became overwhelmed by the toxic fumes and were unable to escape.

‎Firefighters swiftly initiated a rescue operation, deploying specialized techniques and securing the victims with safety ropes.

‎Both men were successfully brought out alive and handed over to their families.

‎Reacting to the incident, the Special Adviser on Fire Service Reform and Chairman of the Fire Services Agency, Hon. Dr. Moroof Adebayo Akinwande, stressed that life has no duplicate and urged residents to avoid risky activities.
