2027: APC National Chairman Meets Oyo Exco Over Consensus Candidates

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday held a meeting with members of the Oyo State Executive Committee in Abuja, as part of ongoing consultations aimed at adopting consensus candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Sources within the party disclosed that discussions at the meeting focused on the consensus arrangement being promoted by APC leaders in Oyo State, similar to the model already taking shape in Lagos and Ogun States.

During the closed-door session, members of the state executive were reportedly briefed on proposed consensus candidates for various elective offices in the state ahead of next year’s polls.

The Oyo delegation was led by the state APC chairman, Chief Moses Alake Adeyemo. Other officials in attendance included the Secretary, Fatai Adesina Adeniyi; Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare; Organizing Secretary, Aderemi Adepoju; Legal Adviser, Sunday Aborisade; Woman Leader, Adekemi Opatunde; Youth Leader, Olalekan Oladejo; Senatorial Chairman for Oyo Central, Joshua Oyebamiji; Senatorial Chairman for Oyo North, Tunde Oloyede; Welfare Secretary, Sunday Babalola; Chairman of LG Chairmen, Joseph Omoniyi; and Senatorial Chairman for Oyo South, Mojeed Adebayo

The development is seen as part of the party’s strategy to strengthen internal unity and reduce the likelihood of divisive primaries in key South-West states.

By aligning Oyo State with the consensus approach already being pursued in Lagos and Ogun, the APC appears determined to build cohesion within its ranks ahead of the 2027 elections.
