Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has commissioned the road networks at Araromi Market and an ultra-modern park at Gate, executed by the Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Ibrahim Akintayo.
Governor Makinde, while inaugurating the projects on Friday, expressed satisfaction with the manner in which local government administrators are deploying their allocations to execute impactful projects and drive grassroots development.
The governor recalled that the park at Gate had served commuters for several decades, noting that the new facilities would promote orderly transportation, stimulate commercial activities and provide a more conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
Makinde also announced that spaces in the new ultra-modern market would be allocated to traders free of charge, and therefore urged those currently operating along the roadside to vacate the areas and relocate to the designated shops and stalls.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Ibrahim Akintayo, said the facilities would provide a coordinated and efficient transport system while improving the revenue generation capacity of the local government.
The completed projects include lock-up shops, open market stalls, a modern restaurant, public convenience center, and an administrative office to ensure effective management of the market and park.
