The Governing Council of the University of Ibadan has approved the appointment of Professor Olamakinde Olapegba as the institution’s 14th Vice-Chancellor.
The appointment was announced on Wednesday, making Olapegba the new chief executive of Nigeria’s premier university, which was established 78 years ago.
Until his appointment, Professor Olapegba served as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the University of Ibadan.
He succeeds the outgoing Vice-Chancellor and is expected to lead the institution’s academic, research and administrative affairs for the duration of his tenure.
