Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has disclosed that he recommended Bimbo Adekanmbi for a ministerial appointment, but President Bola Tinubu chose Adebayo Adelabu instead.
Makinde made this known on Sunday during an interview on Crossfire Exclusive with Mayor Isaac Brown on Fresh FM.
The governor said he approached Tinubu with Adekanmbi as his preferred candidate, expressing confidence in his ability to serve as a minister.
Makinde also revisited the political alliance involving the G5 governors, arguing that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, was the major beneficiary of the arrangement.
He said Tinubu made most of the ministerial appointments, suggesting that other members of the G5 did not benefit significantly from the alliance.
On the Ibadan Circular Road project, Makinde said the N6.7 billion compensation for affected property owners would be signed this week, with disbursement expected to begin immediately and end before October 31.
He also announced plans to gazette a 75-metre setback for built-up areas along the Circular Road corridor.
“For the built-up area along the Circular Road corridor, I know what they want and I will do it. For the built-up area, we will make it 75m setback and it will be gazetted,” the governor said.
He added that payments would commence immediately after the compensation was signed, with the process expected to be completed before the end of the month.
