Oke-Ogun Poly Matriculates 6,532 Students, Restates Commitment to Becoming World-Class Institution

The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (TOPS), has held its matriculation ceremony, welcoming a record of 6,532 new students for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The event commenced with a procession of the incoming students, followed by an oath-taking ceremony conducted by the registrar, Mr. Ojo Adeolu Ayangbemiga.

In his address to the matriculants, Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. (Sur) Sikiru Adetona Ajibola emphasised the institution’s goal to become a world-class educational establishment.

He highlighted that all programmes at TOPS are fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), providing students with a solid foundation for their academic pursuits.

Dr. Ajibola recognised the large matriculation number as a testament to the institution’s growing reputation for quality education.

He cautioned students against complacency, urging them to prepare for academic challenges and to avoid unregistered associations and cultism, while stressing that misconduct would be addressed according to TOPS regulations.

The new students are enrolled in various programmes, including Science, Financial Management Studies, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Agricultural and Natural Resources, and Business and Communications.

They were encouraged to engage actively in their studies and make the most of their time at the institution.

The ceremony also included the official opening of a Wema Bank branch on campus, aimed at providing students with easier access to banking services.

Students showcased their talents through cultural dances, ewi, and other performances, with management recognising those who excelled.

The event was attended by academic scholars, dignitaries, Deans, Deputy Registrars, Academic Directors, Heads of Departments, Student Union Government members, and other guests.
