A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. (Dr.) Dawood Akanni Olalere, well known as D-Al-Ameen, has officially resigned his membership from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Hon. Olalere, who represents Ibadan NorthWest State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, announced his resignation in a letter dated February 12, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of Ward 7, PDP, Ibadan North West Local Government, Ibadan.
In the letter, the lawmaker stated that his decision to leave the party takes immediate effect. He attributed his resignation to what he described as “long lingering and unresolvable division” bedeviling the party.
“I hereby write to inform you of my decision to formally resign my membership from the People’s Democratic Party effective immediately. This is necessitated by the long lingering and unresolvable division that is bedeviling the Party,” the letter read in part.

Hon. Olalere further noted that the move was in his best interest, aligned with his personal values, and in consideration of the interests of his supporters.
“In view of the above, it is in my best interest, personal values and the interest of my supporters to resign my membership from the Party,” he stated.
Despite his departure, the lawmaker expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunity to contribute to the development of Oyo State during his time in the party.
“I most humbly appreciate the opportunity afforded me by the People’s Democratic Party to contribute to the development of Oyo State. Thank you for the experience,” he concluded.
Earlier in the year 2026, D-Al-Ameen has shown interest for Federal House of Representative (Ibadan NorthWest/Southwest) based his performance as a lawmaker at the Oyo State House of Assembly.
However, his next move is yet to be declared as at when filing this report.
