The Oyo State Police Command has announced a comprehensive security lockdown for Ibadan ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention scheduled for this weekend.
In a press release issued on Friday, the police detailed a multi-layered security strategy to ensure the safety of delegates, key political figures, international observers, and residents during the high-profile event taking place at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, on Saturday, November 15, and Sunday, November 16, 2025.
The strategy, developed in collaboration with other security agencies, includes proactive patrols, heightened surveillance, and intelligence-driven stop-and-search operations across the state. Critical infrastructure, including the Samuel Ladoke Akintola International Airport, major train stations, and public parks, will be under heightened security surveillance.
A significant focus will be on securing all key entry and exit points into Oyo State, with the immediate vicinity of the convention venue being a primary area of operation.
CSP Osifeso Adewale, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, issued a clear warning against any form of public disturbance.
“The Command also issues a clear warning against any forms of public unrest, including unauthorized rallies or gatherings within the city before, during, or after the event,” the statement read.
The police have advised the public to use alternative routes to avoid disruptions caused by security movements and closures around the Adamasingba area. They are urging residents to comply with all security guidelines to foster a peaceful atmosphere for the convention.
The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities using the provided emergency contact numbers: the toll-free line 615 or the Police Command Room numbers 08081768614, 09054133071, and 09061299291.
