Oyo Police Nab Two Suspects Over Diesel Theft in Ibadan

Oyo State Police command has announced the arrest of two people in connection with theft of some quantities of diesel in Ibadan.

The command made this declaration via a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade and made available to newsmen Friday evening.

The command noted that the two engaged in illegal siphoning of liquid substances suspected to be diesel from a mixer truck.

The two suspects were identified as Yusuf Mutiyat (F), 43 years old, and Ogunniyan Rasheed (M), 64 years old.

Ayanlade said “Acting on credible intelligence and with the timely cooperation of members of the public, operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit intercepted Yusuf Mutiyat (F), 43 years old, and Ogunniyan Rasheed (M), 64 years old, at Kopek Construction Company, Ibadan, where they were engaged in siphoning liquid substances suspected to be diesel from a mixer truck.

“Subsequent searches led to the recovery of various items suspected to have been stolen or received from criminal activity worth millions of naira, including 24 barrels of 240 litres of liquid suspected to be diesel (approximately 10,000 litres), with an estimated value of N12,000,000.”
