Residents Panic as Cult Clash leaves two Dead in Igboora

Fear has reportedly gripped the residents of Igboora town in Ibarapa Central Local Government Area of Oyo State, following the gruesome murder of two people in a cult related clash.

A resident who pledged anonymity before granting the press claimed that the clash which occurred at the Old Garage area in the town on Wednesday, was between two rival groups.

According to one of the residents, an artisan simply identified as Ibrahim, was killed by suspected cultists at around 3pm on Wednesday.

He said he learnt that one Akeem was used to lure the slain Ibrahim to where he was stabbed to death by members of the rival cult group.

The source said one Qudus popularly called Emi-Esu (evil spirit) was the one responsible for stabbing Ibrahim to death.

However, the alleged killer was reported to have fled the scene after stabbing Ibrahim to death and some other youth were said to have chased Akeem who was earlier used to lure Ibrahim. Akeem was beaten to stupor before he was set ablaze.

Another resident told our correspondent that the incident had caused panic in the area, while calling on security agencies to come to the rescue of the people of the town.

He said, “The whole community is living in fear now because of the incident. We know they may want to continue to attack each other and anything can happen in such situation .

“That is why we are calling on the police and other security agencies to beef up security in the town. They should arrest those boys and make sure whoever is guilty of belonging to any secret cult is punished according to the law”, he added.
