Soun Announces Movement Restriction for Ogbomoso Women as Oro Festival Commences June 13

The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, has announced that the 2025 Oro Festival will begin tomorrow — Friday, June 13 — and will run through Friday, June 20.

In a statement by the Palace Secretary, Mr. Toyin Ajamu, the public is reminded that during the festival period, women are prohibited from moving about in the streets within Ogbomoso township between the hours of 12 midnight and 4 a.m.

The statement further warns that anyone found violating this restriction will be handed over to law enforcement agencies for necessary action.

The statement adds that drumming of any kind throughout the festival duration has been banned.
