Three In Police Net As 65-Yr-Old Farmer Killed In Ogbomoso

A 65-year-old farmer, identified as Kehinde Ojo has allegedly been killed by persons suspected to be herdsmen in Oriire local government area in Oyo State.

The deceased was allegedly killed on Sunday by herdsmen who demanded he allow their cattle graze in his cassava farm.

The incident according to sources close to the village occurred at Igbopupa in Yawota near Alawusa, Oriire local government area.

The deceased reportedly went to the farm at about 4:00 pm on Sunday to inspect his cassava farm but was allegedly matcheted by the suspects.

He was said to have been rushed to a hospital in Ogbomoso, where he later died around 2:00 am on Monday. The matter has been reported to the police at Ikoyi-Ile.

Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police command, Olayinka Ayanlade when contacted confirmed the incident.

Ayanlade, in a statement made available on Monday, said three suspects have been arrested.

“Yes the said Pa Kehinde Idowu sustained serious injury and was confirmed died at the hospital today meanwhile three persons have been arrested in connection to his murder and investigation is ongoing,” Ayanlade confirmed.
