Two Killed as Popular Petrol Station Catches Fire in Ibadan

At least two lives were lost in the early hours of Tuesday in a fire outbreak at the Orita Challenge branch of GABSTAB Petrol Station in Ibadan.

According to Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, the victims were a petrol tanker driver and his motorboy.

Akinyinka stated that firefighters were dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving an emergency call about the incident at 5:15 a.m.

“We received information about the fire at GABSTAB Mega Petrol Station, Orita Challenge, at 5:15 a.m. and promptly deployed our team.

Unfortunately, the driver and his motorboy lost their lives in the blaze,” he confirmed.

The fire has since been extinguished, and authorities have assured that further details on the incident will be provided in due course.
