Ibadan-based veteran journalist, respected media strategist and the Abese of Ibadanland, Alhaji Lekan Alabi, is dead.
Alabi, who served as Press Secretary to several former governors of Oyo State, reportedly passed away on Saturday morning at the age of 76.
A highly regarded figure in journalism and public communication, the late Alabi was widely known for his contributions to the media profession and his dedicated service to Oyo State. Beyond his career in journalism, he was a respected cultural ambassador and traditional title holder, serving as the Abese of Ibadanland.
Family sources confirmed that he would be buried on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland announced his passing in a press statement signed by the Media Aide to the Olubadan, Adeola Oloko.
Further details on the burial arrangements and tributes are expected to be announced by the family and the palace.
