147 Party members Apply for 33 Chairmanship Slots, 808 For 351 Councillorship Seats in Oyo PDP

Oyo state wing of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, has released the list of aspirants for the chairmanship and councillorship in the forthcoming local government election in the State.

The report released by the Committee on Chairmanship and Councillorship Screening Exercise indicated that a total number of 147 Aspirants applied for the position of Chairmanship in the 33 local government of Oyo State while the total number of successful aspirants was 106 with 1 absent. On the other hand, 808 Councillorship aspirants were screened with 749 Councillorship aspirants cleared while 59 were not cleared for not being able to meet up with the requirements.
The reports read:
Only 105 Chairmanship aspirants were successful, they fulfilled all the conditions/guidelines set by the party and therefore cleared to contest in the primary election in their respective local government.. 41 Chairmanship aspirants failed to fulfil some of the screening guidelines, therefore, they are declared unfit to run or contest for the forthcoming primary elections in their respective local governments.

Affected aspirants will be communicated to via SMS.
The Appeal Committee will start her sitting tomorrow Monday 01/03/2021 at the Molete State office of the party as from 9am, any of the uncleared aspirants who has genuine case are expected to come with necessary documents for clearance.

However, primary election for Chairmanship is coming up on Thursday 04/03/2021 at the 33 various local government Secretariat in the State.

Breakdown of 41 Chairmanship aspirants not cleared according to zones:
1. Ibadan Zone- 22
2. Oyo Zone- 9
3. Ibarapa Zone- 1
4. Ogbomoso Zone- 3
5. Oke-Ogun Zone- 6
Total = 41

41 Chairmanship aspirants and 59 Councillorship aspirants not cleared….
