2022 Annual Leave Bonus Would be Paid Earlier than Expected — Makinde Tells Oyo Teachers

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has assured teachers in the state that their 2022 annual leave bonuses would be paid earlier than expected.

The governor gave the assurance while hosting the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Teachers led by its National President, Comrade Titus Amba, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office on Friday.

Governor Makinde, who thanked the Oyo State teachers for being partners in progress with the state government despite challenges encountered, reiterated that his government would only focus on things that promote unity among the ethnic groups and religious bodies in the state.

Earlier in his address, National President, Comrade Titus Amba commended Governor ‘Seyi Makinde on various laudable achievements he has recorded since he took the mantle of leadership in the state, such as prompt payment of workers salaries, and regular payment of pensions and gratuities.

While pledging the total support of the teachers in the state, Comrade Amba, appealed to the state government to extend the retirement age to 65 years, and 35 years of pensionable service to 40 years for the state public teachers.

Other attendees of the programme were the State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Abdul- Rahman Abdul-Raheem, Special Adviser to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde on Labour Matters, Comrade Titilola-Bayo Sodo, the State Chairman of NUT, Comrade Raji Oladimeji among others.
