As part of efforts to strengthen Gov. Seyi Makinde’s re-election bid, a support group known as Young Appointees for Seyi’s Re-election, YASR has vowed to mobilise 30,000 voters for their principal.
The team, composed of young political appointees serving under the current administration, acknowledged that its support for the government of Seyi Makinde is unquantifiable, urging the entire indigenes and residents of Oyo state to continue supporting the governor.
Mr. Deji Ola, one of the appointees, who is also Personal Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde’s Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, while speaking before embarking on an exceptional market storm on Thursday, pointed out that the struggle for the re-election of the governor was borne out of youth engagement, massive growth and development being enjoyed by the citizens and residents of the state.
He added that the team would organise Town Hall meetings, community by community sensitisation, and house-to-house campaigns at the grassroots and remote parts of the state to actualise the re-election of their principal come 2023.
“We are a part of those believing in the leadership of governor Seyi Makinde, and I want to say, with a high sense of responsibility, that with the support of other youths in the state, we will mobilise 30,000 voters for the second term ambition of our dear governor, He said.
Another appointee, Special Assistant on Legal Matters, Miss Ologburo Saidat, in her remark, lauded the governor, saying: “We are young appointees serving under the administration of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, and we have come together to, unanimously, champion the re-election bid of our principal, Governor ‘Seyi Makinde.
“For us, this is just the beginning of our struggle, and we believe this mission must be accomplished through some strategic means we are trying to employ. We are sure of his acceptability from all geo-political zones in the state and his unprecedented achievements in three years in office.
“We strongly believe that Governor Makinde will continue to encourage and engage the young people just like he does.
“As young appointees, we can proudly say this is a government that has taken youths into account as it knows the future belongs to us, the young people.”
While lending his voice, Special Assistant on New Media, Olamide Olorundare, noted that it was important that the governor continues beyond 2023 as a matter of continuity, adding that the love of the people for him will bring the dream into actualisation.
“We have seen, in less than three years, how the economy of our state has grown, and this is a feat achieved under this present government. This state must continue to be great as we allow the governor to embark on the continuity of good governance in the state. So, as young appointees, we resolutely make this come to pass,” Olamide remarked.
Other appointees jointly admitted that they would work together and put in all their best to achieve the desired result.
