Shooting Stars Sports Club will need at least a draw in their final game against Ekiti United on Saturday to qualify for the Nigerian Premier League come next season.
This is coming on the back of the rescheduled fixtures of the postponed Nigerian National League Super Eight games which will now take place at both the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNEC) field and the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium between Friday 10th September and Sunday 12th September, 2021.
With four points out of a possible six, 3SC coach and players are under a little pressure to get something out of the game against Ekiti United who have just a point from the two games played so far.
Ekiti United on the other hand, have a mountain to climb as they need a convincing victory over the Oluyole Warriors in a “make or mar” game at the “Cathedral ” Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium Enugu.
A straight victory in this game will see 3SC go top of the table depending on the outcome of the other game between Bendel Insurance and Remo Stars.
Remo Stars who are currently leading the group on goal difference, will need a straight victory to maintain their top spot which still depends on the score line of both games which will be played at 3pm simultaneously.
While Bendel Insurance and Ekiti United both need a 3-0 win over their respective opponents, 3SC and Remo Stars need a draw to qualify for the NPFL and maybe top the table as well as quality for the finals of the NNL Super Eight competition.
Other matches in the competition will also have Niger Tornadoes facing Gombe United in an all square game as both teams have four points while the two Borno state teams of DMD and El-Kanemi Warriors will face each other in a “brotherly ” battle.
A draw for both Tornadoes and Gombe United will give them qualification from the Northern Conference group to the NPFL, while DMD and El-Kanemi will need a miracle to scale through to the top-tier league next season.
The rescheduled matches were postponed due to heavy downpour on Wednesday and the finals of the competition will take place on Sunday 12th September 2021 between the winner of Group A and the winner of Group B to determine who wins the 2020/2021 NNL Super League competition.
