Student charged with Stealing ₦700k Aunt’s Cooperative Loan in Ibadan

A 23-year-old student, David Chimezie, has been brought before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing ₦700,000 from his aunt.

The incident reportedly occurred on December 24, 2022, at 6:30 pm in the Eleyele area of Ibadan.

According to Inspector Olufemi Omilana, the defendant stole the money from Chioma Onyegbula, who had borrowed it from a cooperative society.

Chimezie was charged with contravening Section 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000. The Magistrate, Munirat Giwa-Babalola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned until July 20 for a substantive hearing.
