The Nigerian military has officially handed over the rescued pupils and teachers abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State to the Oyo State Government after they completed a 48-hour period of medical observation and evaluation.

The victims, who regained their freedom on Friday after spending 56 days in captivity, had been receiving medical treatment, psychological evaluation and psychosocial support at the Headquarters of the 2 Division Nigerian Army Medical Services, Odogbo Barracks, Ibadan.

The formal handover marks the end of the military’s immediate care for the rescued victims and paves the way for their reintegration into their families and communities under the supervision of the Oyo State Government.

Governor Seyi Makinde is expected to address the people of Oyo State and Nigerians in a statewide broadcast shortly, during which he is anticipated to provide details of the rescue operation, the victims’ condition and the next steps in their rehabilitation and reunion with their families.
