The Oyo State Government has announced Monday, September 14, 2026, as the commencement date for the 2026/2027 academic session across schools in the state.
The government disclosed this via its official X handle, directing all public and private schools to commence the full academic programme from the first day of each term in accordance with the approved school calendar.
It also directed schools to observe all public holidays as may be declared by the Federal and State Governments, while warning that strict adherence to the approved 2026/2027 academic calendar is mandatory.
The government warned that any school found contravening the approved school calendar would attract the prescribed penalty, urging school authorities to ensure full compliance with the stipulated academic dates.
It further stated that schools operating international curricula and wishing to adopt academic dates outside the approved 2026/2027 academic calendar must apply for calendar flexibility in line with the prescribed guidelines.
