A commercial bus driver identified as Ibrahim, in his mid-fifties, reportedly slumped and died near Apete Garage in Ido Local Government Area of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred around 6:30 PM after Ibrahim, who operated along the Apete-Sango route, crossed the Apete Bridge with a bus full of passengers returning from Sango.
According to eyewitnesses who revealed the incident exclusively to Oyo Affairs, his bus suddenly stopped moving a short distance from the garage.

The witness who pleaded anonymity added that Ibrahim alighted from the driver’s seat to inspect the vehicle while some passengers stepped down to assist in pushing it.
However, Ibrahim suddenly collapsed while trying to get the vehicle moving and gave up immediately at the scene before medical help could be reached.

He added that passengers quickly called attention of fellow commercial drivers, and local residents who gathered around the scene in shock, noting that he had been driving normally just moments earlier.
The cause of death was not immediately known at the time of filing this report.

Apete and Sango are major transport hubs located near The Polytechnic, Ibadan, serving thousands of students and residents daily.
