The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Sunday, led a number of government functionaries to the Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo, to access the extent of damage done on the facility.
Recall that unknown gunmen stormed the said facility late Friday night, attacking with grenades to gain access, freeing all inmates.
The Alaafin who arrived the place first came in company of Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu at about 11 am.
The Monarch called for calm among the residents and asked them to wait for the government.
The Governor who arrived shortly after the Monarch was taken round the damaged facilities and said effort would be commenced immediately to improve the access road and security of the area.
He called for more calm, urging the people to dispel the rumour of the escape of any high profile inmates of the facility.
He added that about 300 inmates are still at large as the operatives have re-arrested more inmates while some others voluntarily returned.
When newsmen visited the facility on Sunday, it was observed that welders have began work on building another stronger door to replace the damaged one by the attackers.
Also, it was observed that nearby bushes around the facility had been levelled with the corpse of the killed inmate already taken away from where it was when the paper visited on Saturday.
Heavy security presence was also noticed in the vicinity with increased security surveillance by more Amotekun operatives, Vigilante groups and Hunters among others
The governor, who had earlier stated that all security agencies in the state have been put on high alert, promised that the state would do everything to protect its citizens and all state and national assets.
Equally, the state government had directed security agencies to deploy personnel to critical national assets within the state and to monitor all entrances and exit points across the state.
