Adamawa Guber Poll: Makinde Congratulates Fintiri, Says People’s Will Has Been Upheld

The Executive Governor of Oyo Stare, ‘Seyi Makinde has congratulated the reelected governor of Adamawa State, Ahamadu Fintiri following his declaration as winner of the gubernatorial election held on March 18.

Recall that OyoAffairs.net had earlier reported that Makinde paid a solidarity visit to his Adamawa counterpart over the illegal declaration of APC candidate, Senator Aishat Binani as the elected governor of the state by the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner.

In his words, Makinde said, “We paid a solidarity visit to my brother, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, at the Government House in Yola.

“In my remarks to the press, I called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to do the right thing and ensure that the decision of the people of Adamawa State is upheld.

“I also condemned the actions of the Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) who acted beyond his powers in illegally declaring a winner before the electoral process was concluded.

“I said that such people should have no place in positions of authority in Nigeria in the near future,” he added.

Following the completion of the announcement of the supplementary election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday and declaration of Fintiri as the duly elected governor, Makinde said: “Hearty congratulations to my brother, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on his successful re-election bid.

“As I stated when I visited him yesterday, I believed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would do the right thing and I am glad that they have upheld the will of the people of Adamawa State.”
