After 9 Years Of Vacant Throne, Jubilation Erupts As Aresa Designate Storms Into Iresa-Adu

Iresa-Adu came alive with celebration as the newly-selected Aresa, Oba-Designate Adebayo Kayode, made his triumphant return to the ancient town, with residents equally showering praises on Governor Seyi Makinde for restoring a throne that had sat vacant for nearly nine years. Footage of the Oba-designate’s grand entrance quickly spread across social media, capturing the raw emotion of a community welcoming home its long-awaited monarch.

Community members, Royal family members, including stakeholders in Iresa-Adu, stormed the Taki round about in Ogbomoso to welcome the Oba-designate, and he was accompanied into the ancient town in a massive escort chain of a 40mins drive into Iresa-Adu township which was broadcasted live in the media.

The old, young, children, men and women of the ancient town could be seen on the live broadcasts coming out of their houses celebrating, jubillating and waving at the convoy. The convoy was intercepted at multiple locations by happy youths. Youths of Iresa-Apa in jubilation intercepted the convoy of the Oba-Designate. The jubilating crowd had to slowly give way for the Oba-designate to proceed onward into Iresa-Adu township.

Chants and screaming of “Adebayo dé” meaning “Adebayo has arrived”. While there were those screaming “Omituntun 3.0”. Some were also screaming “Seyi lo Seyi”, trying to connote that “Governor Seyi Makinde did this for us”. These were happening as lots of hearts and emotions were being displayed in the ancient town.

The Oba-Designate, who shows to be very popular amongst the community, alongside his entourage, made their first stop at his family house (Oyeku House) inside Iresa-Adu. The teeming crowd which nearly overwhelmed the security operatives surrounded the convoy vehicles in celebration. The security agencies, which included the Nigerian Police, Civil defense, Iru Ekun, including many more had to form a chain amidst the jubilating crowd to create passage for the Oba-Designate into his family house.

Upon stepping out of the vehicle door, the Oba-Designate was greeted with deafening cheers, songs and dance by members of the community. The stop at the Oyeku Family House was brief as the convoy then proceeded to the private residence of the Oba-Designate Adebayo Kayode.

On the way to his personal residence, the Oba-designate, made a quick stop at the burial site of the previous Aresa of Iresa-Adu who passed away since 2018, HRM Oba Jimoh Oloyede, and made a short prayer and bowed in respect. A gesture of humility which stunned onlookers and the communities at large.

Upon arrival at his personal residence, the large crowd followed the Oba-Designate into the large property, singing and cheering. The Oba-designate prayed for the crowd, and asked them to peacefully go home with the good news while stating his most famous slogan “Iresa Shall Be Great Again”.
