Again! Fire Destroys Property Worth Millions of Naira in Ibadan Market

Goods and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed as a result of a fire incident that occurred at Olodo market in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

The incident, which occurred on Monday afternoon, affected at least eight shops. However, no lives were lost in the incident.

The General Manager of Oyo State Fire Service, Yemi Akinyinka, also confirmed the incident.

According to him: “The fire incident was reported at exactly 12:57 pm on Monday, 20th January 2025. The fire personnel were promptly deployed to the scene.

“Upon arrival, eight out of a storey residential building of 16 rooms were found well alight. We quickly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to other rooms, as well as nearby buildings.

“The fire was completely extinguished. No casualties were recorded, but properties worth millions were affected by the fire. However, agency personnel were able to save billions’ worth of property. The fire was caused by high voltage restored by the electricity authority.”
