Bodija Explosion: Court Remands Woman, Two Men

A Federal High Court in Ibadan has ordered the remand of a woman and two men for their roles in the Bodija explosion that occurred on January 16.

The police charged Ramatu Camara, 47, Ganiu Malik, 20, and Abubakar Samasa, 64, with various offenses related to the explosion. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Justice E.U. Akpan directed that they be remanded in the Agodi correctional center and set the next hearing for April 11 for their bail applications.

The police prosecution, Mr. Michael Ojeah, informed the court that the defendants were facing a five-count charge for their involvement in storing radioactive materials that led to the explosion and the death of several individuals.

The defense counsel requested a short adjournment to file necessary applications, while the prosecutor highlighted that the offense violated several sections of the Terrorism, Prohibition, and Prevention Act 2022.
