Controversy Trails Ibadan Chieftaincy Selection As 2 Chiefs Recieve Appointment Letters As Jagun Balogun

Confusion is currently trailing the elevation of some Ibadan chiefs amid reports that two Chieftains received appointments letters for the position of the Jagun Balogun of Ibadan leading to questions about the unique chieftaincy tradition of Ibadanland.

A palace source has exclusively informed that “only two people are traditionally allowed to be elevated to Jagun line”, adding that two people can’t be promoted to Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland.

However, according to the letters spotted by newsmen, two eminent sons of Ibadan have received appointments as Jagun Balogun of Ibadan land.

One showed that the CEO of Ilaji Resorts, Engineer Dotun Sanusi’s letter was issued appointment by Olubadan Advisory Council dated 28th March, 2022 and was signed by K.Liasu, Secretary of Olubadan Advisory Council; while the other was issued to Mogaji Remi Ibrahim Babalola of Ogidi Compound, Ajegede, Oke Ofa Atipe and signed by Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Dr. Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun Alliwo Alli Okunmade 11.

Meanwhile, the palace source has disclosed that the Olubadan-in-council will have to settle the issue swiftly to appoint one as Jagun Balogun of Ibadanland, the other person as Jagun of Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland.
