Court Jails Doctor, 1 Other for Defiling Minor, Teenagers in Ibadan


A Magistrate court sitting in Ibadan has remanded one academic doctor and one other suspect in connection with their alleged involvement in the defilement of a child and 14-year-old girls.

Chief Magistrate P. O. Adetoyibo of Family Court 2, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State who gave the verdict disclosed that the accused who were identified as Kayode Akinsile (60) and Dr. Ajelere Ajewumi, (68) are guilty of the crime.

The two accused were arraigned by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Thursday, July 22, 2021.

NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Oluwole Olusegun while disclosing the verdict to newsmen in a statement said that the state Commandant, Michael Adaralewa, spoke on the arraignment at the command headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan.

The first suspect, Akinsile, of Alafara Ona Ara, Ibadan, was first arrested on June 15 for the defilement of a 14-year-old girl and was granted bail, but went ahead to defile another minor and was rearrested on July 7.

The second suspect, Dr Ajewumi, from Oki Olodo, Ibadan, was arrested for the illegal adoption and defilement of another 14-year-old girl.

According to reports, the community where the accused lived reported his case when they noticed that he confined the girl and continually defiled her.

The Chief Magistrate, after the court charges against the two accused persons were read, remanded them at Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo, till September.

Adaralewa stated in his remarks that the two suspects were arraigned by the NSCDC following a medical examination and thorough investigation of the victims.


He advised parents and guardians to look after their children and wards, as well as encouraging them to be disciplined and excellent ambassadors for their respective homes and families.
