About eighteen (18) confirmed COVID-19 patients in Oyo state have received their second negative test results and have been discharged, Governor Seyi Makinde has said.
With this latest development, the number of discharged cases in the state has reached forty-six (46).
According to Governor Makinde, who is also the head of COVID-19 taskforce in Oyo, the test results of two suspected cases from the University College Hospital, Ibadan, who passed away and have been buried also came back positive.
With this, the number of Covid-19 related death in the state is 4.
His words: “Eighteen confirmed COVID-19 patients have received their second NEGATIVE test results and have been discharged. This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to forty-six.
“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State is 118 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is four.”
Earlier, the governor also announced the COVID-19 confirmation tests for eleven suspected cases in Ibadan.
Eight of these cases are from the sealed factory in Ibadan South West Local Government Area while one case is from Oluyole Local Government Area.
Meanwhile, the total tally of infected people in the country rose to 5,959, from 5,621.
Nigeria has so far tested 33,970 persons since the beginning of the pandemic.
A breakdown of all the confirmed cases so far shows that 5,959 infections have been reported in Nigeria since the index case in February. Of that number, 4,183 cases are still active, 1,549 have recovered and have been discharged, and 182 deaths have been reported.
