Custom Officers Bound Guard, Stole My N3.7 Million – Bodija Rice seller



Market women in Bodija have alleged that officers of the Nigeria Customs had on Thursday around 12.35am during their illegal raid of the market tied down one of the market watchmen on guard at the Iwo-road section of the market.

Speaking on behalf of the Association on a radio program, Situation room at Fresh FM 105.9 this morning, the representative of the Rice Sellers and Dealers Association in the market; Alhaja R.O Mosope stated that about N3.7 Million was carted away from her own shop in the market.

According to Mrs. Mosope, the Custom Officers came with trucks and loaders to invade different sections of the markets.

“I was called that customs officers invaded the market and they were so many in numbers with loaders. They were breaking into shops. We call one side in Bodija, that is; Iwo road section garage, they’ve operated there, and they don’t spare anyone there. They even broke into these provision dealers’ shops. So they made those shops one to another. They broke them, they loaded rice, they even tied the security down for their Operation.”

Counting the losses of her members, Alhaja Mosope said the customs officers carted away nothing less than 6 trucks of Rice roughly estimated to be about 3600 bags of rice.

“They went away with six trucks of rice, in which a Truck contains 600 bags. They went away with Vegetable oil. In shops they went away with some Vegetables oil there and even Garri and packet of this Indomie.”

“I have every evidences with me, they took N3.7 million in my shop which was packed in some used bag. That day we’ve have already been to the bank but when it gets to something like 2pm and being the last day of the month, they will tell you this is the amount we can take”

Alhaja Mosope however stated that the SA; Security to Governor Seyi Makinde has already assured that Justice will be served.
