Don’t be Afraid When You Hear Gunshots — Army Tells Ibadan Residents as Soldiers Begin Training Exercise

Nigerian Army 2 Division Headquarters, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment Ojoo Ibadan, have told residents in the area not to be afraid when they hear gunshots starting from Monday, August 1, 2022.

According to a statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Ekeocha, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, the 2022 Annual Range Classification Exercise will be held at the Major General of Akintayo Shooting Range on Monday, in accordance with the Nigerian Army Forecast of Events 2022.

Hence, farmers have been advised to avoid the range area next week.

The statement added that the annual range classification exercise, is scheduled for August 1st to 5th 2022.

Residents have been encouraged to go about their regular activities without harbouring any fear.

The statement further explains that the exercise aims to improve already taught practical gun handling courses, evaluate marksmanship abilities as well as test and review troop weapon handling ability.

“The residents of the Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment in Ibadan are therefore warned not to flee if they hear gunfire during that time.

“Farmers in the area should stay away from the range area throughout the shooting practice”, the statement partly reads.
