Eid-ul-Mawlid: FG Declares Wednesday Public Holiday

The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, September 27, 2023, will be a public holiday to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid. This holiday is dedicated to commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Muslims were congratulated for being able to witness this year’s occasion. The Minister also emphasized the importance of embracing the values of love, patience, tolerance, and perseverance, which were exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

Furthermore, the Minister urged the youth to embrace hard work and maintain peaceful relationships with their fellow citizens, regardless of their faith, ideology, social class, or ethnicity. It is crucial for everyone to demonstrate respect and understanding towards one another.
