Extradition: Cotonou Court Adjourns Sunday Igboho Hearing, Sends Him Back to Police Custody

A Beninese court, on Monday, adjourned the immigration and extradition hearing of the acclaimed Yoruba nation agitator; Sunday Igboho and sent him back to Police custody.

The hearing, which lasted nearly 13 hours, ended around 11:20 p.m., with inside sources claiming that the Yoruba activist may not be extradited to Nigeria as soon as the FG requested.

The source also reported that Igboho would not be set free. “The problem is with the extradition, and there is a lot of politics going on”.

According to another report, Igboho pleaded with the court not to send him back to Nigeria because he was afraid of being killed.

The final judgment’s details are still hazy, but insiders believe it implies the Yoruba youth leader, who has been proclaimed wanted by the Nigerian government, would not be extradited immediately.

Sunday Igboho’s supporters who were present at the court premises to follow the court proceedings were denied access to the courtroom yesterday.

Also, Journalists and men of the media were dispersed immediately after the arrival of security personnel.
