A former senatorial candidate of the Accord Party in Oyo State, Engr. Faozey Oladotun Nurudeen, has announced his resignation from the party.
Oyo Affairs can confirm that Nurudeen contested for the Oyo Central Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly during the last general election.
He however made this development known in a statement personally signed by him and made available to newsmen on Thursday.
According to Nurudeen, his decision to resign is driven by his desire to create meaningful impact in the lives of the masses, which he believes can only be achieved by aligning with like-minded politicians and a party with a broader platform and reach.
Nurudeen expressed his gratitude to the leaders and members of the Accord Party for the opportunity to contest on their platform.
He also appreciated his supporters, assuring them that his entire political structure will be mobilized to support his new party, which will be announced soon.
The statement read: “I, Engineer Faozey Oladotun Nurudeen, wish to announce my resignation as a member of the Accord Political Party.
“To this effect, I have forwarded my resignation letter to the ward chairman of Accord (Pakoyi/Idode, Ward 10, Oyo West Local Government Area, Oyo State), and all the necessary steps have been taken to affirm my intentions and actions.
“One of my intentions in politics is to create indelible imprints in the lives of the masses. I believe this cardinal and lofty principle can only be achieved when thoughts are astutely blended with pragmatic actions among like-minded politicians.
“During the last general election, I contested as the senatorial candidate of the Accord for Oyo Central Senatorial District seat in the National Assembly. To the glory of God, the people of my district believed in my ability to represent them well, and they voted for me.
“As a personality of astute and shrewd principles, I believe that political platforms (parties) play significant roles in a candidate’s electoral success. Therefore, there is a need for swift realignment and synergy.
“Efforts are in top gear towards aligning with a new political party with a broader platform and reach. On a yet-to-be-announced date, these efforts will culminate in my open declaration of membership in a new political party. All my supporters, including my entire political structure, will be mobilized to strengthen further the party in the Oyo Central Senatorial District and the State.
“I thank all the leaders, the members of Accord, and my numerous supporters for the rare privilege offered to me to contest on the party’s platform in the general election. God bless you all.”
