Fatal Accident on Lagos-Ibadan Express Way Claims Two Lives, Eight Injured

Two lives have been lost to a lone road crash at Mile 12 market, Ogere, on Lagos-Ibadan expressway, leaving eight others injured.

The fatal incident happened on Saturday night, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun.

Confirming the accident to journalists, Ahmed Umar, the sector commander in the state capital Abeokuta on Sunday, said a MAN diesel truck with registration number BR 446 XE, was on excessive speed when it hit the median and fell on its side at about 7:18 PM.

He said the truck was loaded with bags of sugar while some of the victims were sitting on the bags before the incident.

According to the FRSC boss, 15 people, comprising 14 men and one woman were involved in the accident.

He explained that the eight people injured were all men, saying that two persons died in the accident.

One vehicle was involved with registration number BR 446 XE, a Man diesel truck,” he said.

Umar said that the deceased had been deposited at FOS morgue, Ipara, while injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere for treatment.

He subsequently warned motorists against speeding and dangerous driving on roads.
