The Oyo State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr Akeem Olatunji, has publicly rebutted any every and any claim of his disloyalty to his boss as well as condemning any member who chose to oppose the Governor Seyi Makinde.
Olatunji said this in a statement on Monday morning to deny allegations that he challenged the governor’s handling of the farmers/herders crisis in Ibarapaland.
Despite multiple evidence that the Governor truly exited the official platform of the PDP in the state, Olatunji denied it and tagged it as the work of some disgruntled elements within the party who aim to use the group chat to advance their ulterior motives.
He described the governor as not just a leader of the party in Oyo state and south west Nigeria but also his political mentor whom he holds at the highest esteem.
It would be noted that it was circulated last week that Governor Makinde exited the official WhatsApp group of the State’s WhatsApp group after reacting to a particular video that also went viral.
The video in contention was said to have contained negative content that is capable of projecting the PDP government in bad light and the secretary insisted it was absolutely the handiwork of detractors who perhaps have collaborators within the ruling party.
He emphasised that it was his responsibility to curb the spread of such malicious video, hence his swift reaction.
He however added that it’s within the jurisdiction of any party member to stay or exit the WhatsApp group, and the governor is no exception.
Meanwhile, the video has since been confirmed by concerned authorities to be fake as expected.
He added that he has spoken with the Governor and all concerned persons in government and there is now a full comprehension of the situation.
