Fire Destroys Millions of Naira Worth of Properties in Ogbomoso 

Properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed after a fire gutted at least six shops in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the blaze broke out on Thursday in the Ile-Ewe area near Sawmill, Ogbomoso, affecting six out of ten locked-up shops.

The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Mr. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Ibadan on Friday.

Akinwande stated that the agency received an emergency call about the fire at precisely 14:08 hours on Thursday from a resident, Mr. David Ajagbe.

He explained that firefighters, led by Chief Fire Superintendent (CFS) Dairo, swiftly responded and arrived at the scene in time to contain the blaze.

“Upon arrival, we found six out of ten locked-up shops fully engulfed in flames. Our team immediately deployed firefighting equipment and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring shops and properties,” Akinwande said.

“While properties worth millions of Naira were lost, the fire service also saved millions of Naira worth of goods. Fortunately, no casualties were recorded.”

He added that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
