Fire Guts Six Room Residential Building in Ibadan, Multimillion Properties Destroyed

Properties worth millions of Naira have been destroyed in fire incident that ravaged a residential building in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Report gathered that the incident occurred on Monday, around Olubi Primary School Wesley Elekuro in Ibadan at a private residential building of six rooms.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident, saying in a statement that no life was lost in the incident.

Akinwande said, “The distress call was reported at exactly 10;22hrs on Monday 16th June, 2025.

“The agency’s personnel led by ACFS Adekola (Mrs) promptly deployed to the place of the incident. On arrival, it was a private residential building of six(6) rooms engulfed by fire. We swiftly swung into action and curtailed the fire from spreading to the other nearby buildings and properties.

“No casualty was recorded but the fire severely affected the building and the fire service was able to save all nearby buildings and properties.

“The fire was as a result of an unattended domestic cooking gas cylinder which exploded and set the building ablaze”.
