Four Dead as Fuel Tanker Rams into Taxi in Ibadan

Not less than four persons lost their lives after a petrol-laden tanker rammed into a taxi at the Celica area, along Ibadan- Ife expressway, in Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to sources, the tragic tragedy occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, around 7 a.m.

The truck’s driver was said to have lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the game taxi while attempting to maneuver it.

According to an eyewitness identified aa Sunday, the loaded tanker skidded off the road and plunged into a nearby ditch. He stated that the taxi was about to enter the road when the truck crashed into it.

He also disclosed that there were six persons in the taxi at the time of the crash, with four of the victims declared dead.

Firefighters and officers from the Department of Public Safety were seen at the scene attempting to put out the fire and control pedestrian access to the scene.

However, residents in the Celica area have urged the Federal Government to finish the ongoing restoration work on the Ibadan-Ife expressway, which they claim has been underway for over a year and is the source of the area’s frequent road accidents.
